Cedar Point Announces Last Ride For Roller Coaster
Posted September 2nd, 2014 @ 3:36pm

Cedar Point has announced that it is permanently shutting down one of its roller coasters. The Mantis will give it's final ride on October 19. Park officials have not announced what will happen to the coaster after it closes.
"It's time to say goodbye to one of the park's coasters, and it's certainly been a different kind of ride for our guests," said Jason McClure, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point. "But we're extremely excited about what the future holds here at the Roller Coaster Capital of the World."

When it opened in 1996, the Mantis set several world records. It was the tallest stand-up coaster at 145 feet, the fastest at 60 miles an hour, and boasted the steepest hill at 52 degrees.
