Secretary of State Jon Husted has appointed two former judges to oversee the certification of the recent primary elections. The Toledo Free Press reports members of the Lucas County Board of Elections were notified today that Judge Perter Handwork and Judge Charles Wittenberg will work with the BOE as they certify the votes from May 6th primary. Handwork formerly served Ohio's Sixth District Court of Appeals. Wittenberg formerly served on the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas. Board director Gina Kaczala and three members of the Board of Elections are awaiting a report from Husted's office on recommendations for their potential removal. Deputy director Dan DeAngelis, who was also recommended for removal, resigned last week.
