Barack Obama's Charlottesville Tweet Becomes Most Liked In Twitter History

Former President Barack Obama's first Charlottesville tweet has officially become the most-liked tweet in Twitter history!

Over the weekend, white supremacists and neo-Nazis marched in Charlottesville, Virginia to protest immigration, the Black Lives Matter movement, the LGBTQ community and more. Not too long after, counter-protestors began to demonstrate against these supremacists. Unfortunately, things turned violent and the alt-right men began fighting the people who were counter-protesting their prejudice beliefs.

It was complete chaos. A man named De'Andre Harris was so severely beaten by the white Nationalists -- who shouted racial slurs to him, while hitting him -- that he suffered multiple injuries. “They were trying to kill me out there,” Harris told Los Angeles Times. “The police didn’t budge, and I was getting beat to a pulp.” Another 32-year-old woman named Heather Heyer was intentionally run over with a car by 20-year-old Nazi supporter James Alex Fields Jr. Heyer died as a result of this act.

So, Obama's tweets with words of encouragement and love meant everything to those who read them. The 44th president quoted famous, very relevant words from the late anti-apartheid revolutionary Nelson Mandela. "No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion...' Obama first tweeted. This is the tweet that made Twitter history with over 3.5 million likes, at the moment, and counting! See it below.

The former commander-in-chief followed this with two more tweets. 'People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love...' he continued. '...For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.' - Nelson Mandela." See those tweets below.
