The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle campaign to raise funds for those in need in our community will get a huge boost on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (Dec. 12, 13, 14) when donations made at local Andersons locations will be matched by The Andersons up to $150,000.

Every $1 deposited in a red kettle during this period at any of the three Andersons locations will be matched by $3 from The Andersons, Inc.

“In order to maximize this opportunity, Red Kettle collections need to reach $50,000 at The Andersons over these three days,” said Captain Kevin Zanders, who serves as the Area Coordinator of The Salvation Army in Northwest Ohio along with his wife, Captain Tawny Cowen-Zanders.   “We are hoping that the community will recognize this opportunity and make an effort to donate on these days at these locations.  Anyone who contributes should feel good about his or her part in generating increased revenue.”

Cowen-Zanders added, “It is our sincere hope that both donors and recipients join us in thanking The Andersons for their generosity.  Their kindness will truly change lives.”

One of the challenges the organization faces this year is the loss of collection days between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since Thanksgiving fell later, there are fewer days to collect the funds needed to meet community needs.

The money collected and the matched dollars will be used this Christmas season and throughout the coming year to bring hope to those in need throughout our community.

Captains Zanders and Cowen-Zanders are the Area Coordinators for The Salvation Army’s Northwest Ohio Area Services, which includes Lucas, Ottawa, Wood, Fulton, and Henry Counties.
