Highway Patrol Announces Holiday Enforcement Blitz

COLUMBUS, Ohio - There will be plenty of State Highway Patrol Troopers on the roads building up to Thanksgiving.

Traffic congestion will get worse between now and Thanksgiving. Highway patrol public affairs commander Robert Sellers says enforcement efforts will increase.

"Our troopers are gonna be out. We're going to be looking for impaired drivers. We're gonna be looking for people not wearing their seat belts. We're going to be looking for people who are not sharing the road safely," Sellers says.

Sellers says there were 15 deadly wrecks during the Thanksgiving holiday travel season in Ohio last year. Nine of them involved alcohol. Six people in those crashes were not wearing seat belts.
