Holiday Events Planned Friday Evening

(Toledo, OH) There’s community Christmas caroling this evening at Promenade Park.

The public can sing their favorite holiday carols alongside the Woodward High School choir at 7 p.m. and the Masterworks Chorale 15 minutes later. The caroling takes place in front of a new 65-foot tall Christmas tree.

The public is encouraged to bring toys to the event, which kicks off the annual Hope for the Holidays campaign, which benefits the Salvation Army and Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaigns. 25,000 toys were collected last year in the campaign, which started in 2011.

The Toledo Zoo's annual holiday light show opens today.  "Lights Before Christmas" features more than one-million lights, 200 illuminated animal images and an ice slide in the amphitheater.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with the lighting of an 85-foot-tall Norway spruce.
