Record Number Of Positive West Nile Tests

(Toledo, OH)   This summer is shaping up to be a record for mosquitoes in Lucas County.

Toledo Area Sanitary District officials say they've found an unusually high number of the pesky bugs so far this year, including many testing positive for West Nile Virus.

Heavy spring rain and hot temperatures are being blamed for the explosion in the mosquito population.

People are being reminded to protect themselves by using repellents and wearing long sleeves and pants when possible. Homeowners also are advised to get rid of sources of standing water.
