Anthony Wayne High Taking Precautions After Rumors Of Alleged Threat

WHITEHOUSE, Ohio - Anthony Wayne High School students will see extra law enforcement in the hallways tomorrow as the school reacts to an alleged threat.

WTOL 11 reports Anthony Wayne principal Kevin Pfefferle sent a letter to parents Wednesday, alerting them to extra precautions the school would be taking on Friday. In the letter Pfefferle explained that the school is making the move after investigating a rumor of a threat.

"The current rumors have been investigated and we have interviewed students and collaborated with parents," Pfefferle wrote. "Through our investigations, and those that have included law enforcement, we have determined that the most recent rumors are related to an already unsubstantiated rumor from November, 2018. As a result, we feel that Friday, May 17 will be an otherwise normal school day, however we will work with our local law enforcement departments to have additional law enforcement presence on Friday."

The letter also encouraged students, parents and staff to alert school officials if they see anything that they think will affect school safety.
