Chris Harrison Says Clare Crawley's Season 'Took A Turn' Early On

Things are heating up between Clare Crawley and Dale Moss on The Bachelorette—much to the dismay of the rest of her suitors.

On Tuesday (October 27), Crawley and Moss grew closer than ever. After spending more time together, Crawley even began referring to Moss as her "fiancé" to producers. This comes after Crawley said just met her future husband after Moss got out of the limo on night one.

With Crawley and Moss falling head over hells for each other, the arrival of Tayshia Adams as a replacement for Crawley was teased at the end of the episode. Following the episode, host Chris Harrison revealed about when he knew Crawley's turn as The Bachelorette wasn't going to work out as planned. "We thought this may take a turn pretty early on," Harrison said. He added that there wasn't really a "lightbulb moment" when he realized producers needed to come up with a backup plan, instead it was a "culmination of things."

"We thought, 'Wow, this is really coming to a head quickly,'" he explained. "I think our first thought was, 'Well, this will continue on and it'll ebb and flow like normal seasons,' but when we realized there was only ebb and no flow, we thought, 'We need to look at what we are gonna have to do.'"

While Harrison played coy about Adams officially taking over for Crawley, he did admit she was "always on the table" for the role before Crawley was cast. "She's incredible," he said of Adams. "Not only is she stunningly beautiful, but she's kind, giving, she's an unbelievably sweet girl. She's somebody I've actually gotten to know and gotten to be friends with over the last couple of years."

In addition to raving about Adams, Harrison said "the show is predicated on" women like her. "[She] is this amazing woman who seemingly has it all, except she can't find love. She really wants to find love and she's dated and she's trying and it's just not happening," he explained. "She is that diamond in the rough that any guy would be lucky to fall in love with."

"She was always a fan favorite, she was always a favorite of the producers, and so she was always on the top of our list. Clearly we went with Clare, and that was a great choice, because she's done a phenomenal job at falling in love," Harrison continued. "But if things take a turn, then we may have to make a turn as well, and make a change. And will it be Taysia? Probably. We'll find out next week."

The Bachelorette usually airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, however, the next episode will air on Thursday, Nov. 5 due to the election.
