"Biggest Week In American Birding" Begins

(Oak Harbor, OH)   Bird watchers from all over the world are flocking to northwest Ohio.

The "Biggest Week in American Birding" opens today at the Black Swamp Bird Observatory in Oak Harbor.  More than 90,000 people from all 50 states and more than 50 countries are expected to visit this week to see one of the largest groups of migrating birds in the world.

There are field trips, workshops, and keynote presentations at parks all along Lake Erie for the beginning birdwatcher, as well as the binocular-clad veteran whose eyes are constantly trained on the skies.

There are daily guided van trips that depart from Maumee Bay State Park, guided walks and nature tours at Magee Marsh and the Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, and even photography lessons through May 13th.

Many of the activities are free, but van tours and other events do have a cost. A complete schedule can be found at biggest.week.in.american.birding.com.
