City Council Approves Special Election For Jail Issue

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo City Council has given the okay for a February special election.

The Council approved $275,000 to fund the special election. The money was approved by a unanimous vote.

WTOL 11 reports the initiative to keep a proposed new jail downtown will be on the ballot.

The vote comes after a ruling from the Ohio Supreme Court that the Keep The Jail Downtown initiative petition was properly submitted and should appear on a ballot to be voted on.
