Police Searching For Man Who Hasn't Missed Work In 30 Years

Authorities in Michigan are asking for help in finding a man who went missing on Monday (March 25). 56-year-old Marcus Esper was last seen driving to a storage facility where he planned to rent a locker to store some of his family's possessions while they found a new place to live. He was wearing a gray hooded University of Michigan jacket, blue Sketchers shoes, and a baseball cap when he left.

Esper's family knew something was wrong when he did not show up at his job because over the last 30 years he has never missed a day of work. They say that his phone is shut off and there has been no activity on any of his bank accounts or credit cards.

“This is really one of those suspicious cases because he has not missed a day of work in 30 years and all of a sudden, he’s missed a day, and there’s no sighting of him since he left,” Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Eugene Rush said.

On Wednesday, police found his 2013 Buick LaCrosse abandoned in a church parking lot in Belleville, the town where he used to live over a decade ago. Officials towed his car and are waiting to get a warrant to search it, hoping it will have some clues about his whereabouts. They called in police dogs to search the area around the church but were unable to locate him.

"I feel in my heart since they found the car, I think he’s still alive," said Johanna Esper, Marcus' sister. "And if he is, I just want him to come home."
