Number Of Coronavirus Deaths Tops 100,000 In The United States

The United States reached a grim milestone on Wednesday (May 27) as the death toll from the coronavirus pandemic topped 100,000. As of Thursday morning, there have been 1.7 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, which have resulted in 100,426 deaths. The U.S. has the highest death toll in the world. Globally, there have been 5.6 million confirmed cases of the virus and 355,728 deaths.

Many of the deaths in the United States have been in New York and New Jersey, which have seen more than 29,000 and 11,000 deaths, respectively.

President Donald Trump offered his condolences on Twitter to the families and friends of those who lost their lives.

“We have just reached a very sad milestone with the coronavirus pandemic deaths reaching 100,000. To all of the families & friends of those who have passed, I want to extend my heartfelt sympathy & love for everything that these great people stood for & represent. God be with you!” Trump wrote.
