Schools in N'West Ohio are setting their final plans for the start of the new school year, in fact a few are already back in session including St John's Jesuit. Others like Sylvania, Anthony Wayne, and TPS have either announced or are expected to this week. Here's a breakdown of what we know now about your kids getting back into the classroom this fall.

Toledo Public Schools - Will re-open for the 2020-2021 school year on September 8, under a Red Light status.This means that the most severe conditions are present and the district will be operating 100% remotely. Students will have access to all TPS learning resources and be provided a device and reliable Wi-Fi, as needed. State licensed and credentialed educators will teach live each day. Students, families and staff members should be prepared to remain under Red Light through the end of the first semester. TOLEDO PUBLIC SCHOOLS WEBSITE

Rossford- Students will return to classrooms beginning August 20th(exact dates depend on the grade). Students will be returning to school with a hybrid model. Mondays will be remote learning only days, with Tuesdays and Thursdays half of the school population in class with the other half remote learning. Those roles will be flipped on Wednesdays and Fridays. Therefore each student will have three remote learning days and two in-class days each week. The return to class will be done with safety procedures and social distancing to account for limiting the spread of the COVID-19 Virus. Washington Local- Dr. Kadee Anstadt, declared temporary remote learning to begin the 2020-2021 school year in response to the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department’s recommendation. The district continues to offer a full year virtual option through the Panther Virtual Academy. The first day of instruction will be on August 31.

The Board of Education also approved a Split-Week Hybrid Model that will be implemented when students are able to safely return to face-to-face instruction. That model includes students attending face-to-face two days per week and learning remotely the other three days. WASHINGTON LOCAL WEBSITE

Perrysburg -A hybrid approach was chosen for grades kindergarten through six returning to school for in-person instruction four days a week. This means Monday is a remote learning day , and grades seven through 12 going to school two days a week. Sixty percent of instruction for older students will be remote. PERRYSBURG SCHOOLS

Sylvania Schools- On August 7th, Sylvania parents received an update informing them of the switch to their remote learning “red” plan for the start of the school year. SYLVANIA SCHOOLS

Anthony Wayne-Anthony Wayne school board members voted Monday morning to stick with the school district’s plan to have students return to the classroom this fall under a hybrid plan.ANTHONY WAYNE SCHOOL

Oregon City Schools- The district will be using a hybrid model to start the school year. Superintendent Hal Gregory says he agrees with the decision but hopes they don't have stay that way the entire year. OREGON SCHOOLS

Maumee- Superintendent Todd Cramer is asking the board to push back the start of our school year until September 8 to give parents time to adjust to this change, our staff ample time to prepare as we make this pivot, and also to maximum number of in-person school days for our students who will be LEARNING AT SCHOOL when we are permitted to return to in-person learning. I am confident in saying that the Board will make this decision quickly so that you have the information you need to make decisions for your children. We plan to send out another SchoolMessenger alert on August 13 with additional information such as when we will be able to post elementary class lists, provide final middle and high school class schedules, and if changes are made we will send you the revised calendar for the 2020-21 school year.
